In the pursuit of getting all fifty states, Shane and I planned a whirlwind of a trip to number 49, which is fitting, as Alaska was the 49th state of the United States. One thing we learned quickly is that Alaska is HUGE. We only visited a small portion of a sprawling, rugged state. If you're like us, with limited time, but want to pack a punch of authentic Alaska excursions and views, this is the perfect way to see and experience Alaska in 48 hours. We chose to center our trip from ... Read More about The Last Frontier: 48 Hours in Anchorage, Alaska

Spend Some Days Away in Durango, Colorado
We visited Durango, Colorado once before on our Southwest road trip and always remembered it fondly. Now, nearly 3 years later, it was just as wonderful as we had remembered. Durango has one of our FAVORITE main streets. Several blocks long and filled with tons of shops that you just HAVE to check out. Our particular favorites are Urban Market and Maria’s Bookshop. We love old Main Streets but especially adore when they’re filled with lively shops with things that just tempt you to ... Read More about Spend Some Days Away in Durango, Colorado
Poolside in Palm Springs, California
Maybe it was all the Real Housewives shows of people jet-setting off to lay poolside in Palm Springs, but I have always wanted to visit here! Pitstop: Petrified Forest National Park
GETTING THERE We drove to Petrified Forest National Park en route to Homolovi Springs State Park. We left Tucson and made the 5 hour drive to the northeast corner of the state. The drive was beautiful except for the 20 or 30 minutes of pure terror as we descended Salt River Canyon. This was the only route here and we held our breath and didn’t speak a word to each other during the 8% descent with hairpin switchbacks. By the time we had finished the hard part, Shane pointed out the smell ... Read More about Pitstop: Petrified Forest National Park
