Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas was everything I had dreamed of. This town has been on my bucket list for quite some time for exactly the reason you’d expect: an obsession with Joanna and Chip Gaines.
What they’ve created at Magnolia Market at the Silos is a design haven and interiors Disney World. They’ve completely taken over two blocks in Downtown Waco, walking distance to the Central Business District, and developed a district of their own. Seriously, there’s even wayfinding signage for The Silos District.
MORNING AT MAGNOLIA MARKET
We spent hours just sitting around and enjoying everything their genius brains created. (I wish I would have thought of this.) We started off at Magnolia Press for some lattes and breakfast pastries. Not only is the coffee shop exquisitely decorated (big shock, I know), we loved everything we ate and drank. We sat outside on cute bistro chairs, opened our laptops, and spent the morning working from quite possibly our favorite place on the road trip to date.
I left Shane behind for a bit to explore her new store, Magnolia Home and scoped out some things I knew we would buy before leaving. Once we finished up some work, we headed to the food trucks on site. We enjoyed some sweet tea from a food truck entirely dedicated to sweet tea, just in case we needed a reminder we were in the South. There were also options for grilled cheese, hot dogs and hamburgers, popcorn, and more! On the perfectly manicured lawn, there were lawn games from the kiddos, cute covered picnic tables to sit and enjoy your meal, and the perfect playlist humming throughout. (It was so good we found it here on Spotify).
Afternoon at magnolia market
Then we went into the Magnolia Markets which is a mecca of all of her design accessories. She has products for everything from cute measuring spoons, vases, pillows, and every knick-knack in between. They also have souvenir magnets, tees, and mugs (they’d be remiss not too since it’s hard to ignore the tourism the Silos brings to Waco).
We stopped by the Silos Baking Co. and grabbed sweet treats to bring back home and devour in comfy clothes.
back home from magnolia
Before heading back to Midway Park COE campground, we stopped by Village Pizzeria at Union Hall. We ordered the Hot Honey (mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, pepperoni, salami, jalapeños, and hot honey) and we couldn’t believe how delicious it was. We both agreed it was some of the best pizza we’ve ever eaten.
Overall, we loved Waco and were so happy we made this a stop on our journey. The campground was great too. It was 15 minutes from Downtown which made getting to places easy. We stayed in Site 001 which was right on Lake Waco and the sunsets were phenomenal.
Side Note: Some places on our list that we didn’t get to (but wish we did!) are: Spice Village, Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits, and Katie’s Frozen Custard. We’ve also read that Joanna Gaines frequents Cafe Homestead.
