ABOUT ME
My name is Alex and I created Somewhere Someway to capture the memories of all the places I’ve traveled and share them with you. I offer travel guides, trip planning, and write travel blog posts about the places I’ve visited.
I’ve had the travel bug since I was little and love going beyond the typical tourist destinations. My goal is to be a traveler, not a tourist. And I hope this site helps you do the same!
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, which was a dream in and of itself. After earning my degree in Urban Planning, I moved to Nashville. It was a complete culture shock but trading the beach for the mountains was such a fun adventure!
WHY SOMEWHERE SOMEWAY?
Eventually I realized after moving from job to job within urban planning, that I spent most of my workday either browsing Pinterest travel guides or planning trips for my boyfriend, Shane, and me to go on. I would come home every day with some elaborate idea of where we could fly or drive to see things we’d never seen before. (I’d like to report that we actually followed through with so many of the itineraries I drafted as I daydreamed at my desk).
Shane and I fell in love over our mutual love of travel. Only a few months after dating, we’d already purchased flights to DC for a summer getaway. Thankfully, we travel really well together. I’m keen on the details: logistics, sightseeing, reservations. And he loves food (@thecharlotteflavor). We’re a dream travel team.
Noticing that we took any chance we got to cash in our accrued time off at work to explore somewhere new, I reevaluated my passions and realized travel > urban planning.
One of my biggest goals is to see all 50 states before I turn 30 (three years and ticking). The challenge has helped us see the country little by little – places we may not have traveled to otherwise. Somewhere Someway will capture the experiences I’ve had and the places I’ll be traveling to in the future across the U.S. I always need a trip to look forward to and this goal has made me realize I am invigorated by traveling, talking about traveling, and reading about traveling.
So, I finally decided to take the jump. I’ve decided to focus solely on my businesses and leave urban planning behind for trip planning and travel blog writing. Somewhere Someway will chronicle Shane’s and my adventures, offer services to help you plan your trips, and show you behind the scenes of it all.
Let’s adventure.
