Denver has a special place in my heart and is the perfect place to plan a quick weekend trip. My sister is three years younger than me and while we’ve always gotten along (aside from the required sister bickers of our youth), we are now in our mid 20s and have emerged into true friendship status. We really wanted to go on a sister’s trip – just the two of us. We decided to have a weekend getaway to Denver, Colorado. It was fun to share a hotel room and bond over all the food and drinks the city has to offer.
The Capitol Building marks “one mile above sea level” with a discreet carving.
We loved walking around and exploring Downtown.
One of the best parts of Denver is the public transportation, and that’s not just the Urban Planning nerd in me talking. We landed at the Denver Airport and took the A Line train to Union Station. It’s $9 one way, which is better (and more comfortable) than any Uber ride could be. Once at Union Station, you can walk to the hotel, but we chose to take the free 16th Street MallRide. It’s an electric bus that runs up and down 16th Street and basically dropped us off at the door of the Magnolia Hotel.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I was absolutely obsessed with the Big Blue Bear.
Daydreaming of my second order of french onion soup dumplings.
Denver has so much delicious food. Cholon has french onion soup dumplings which were out of this world. It can only be followed by ice cream tacos at Nuggs Ice Cream. The next day, dessert at Duffeyroll Cafe means Irish cream cinnamon rolls, and I’ve never met a cinnamon roll I didn’t like.
